Concealed Carry

Applications for conceal and carry permits are conveniently available to Pettis County residents at our office.  Residents that wish to carry a concealed weapon on their person will need to obtain a permit for a concealed weapon.



Concealed weapon applicants must meet the criteria indicated below before being allowed to fill out an application.


We will try to accommodate walk-ins, but scheduled appointments will take precedence.

MISSOURI REVISED STATUTES CHAPTER 571 WEAPONS OFFENSES



To obtain a concealed weapon permit, you must meet the criteria as defined by Section 571.101 RSMo.




To obtain a concealed weapon permit ("CCW") application, you must have the following:



A certificate showing a minimum of 8 hours of required personal firearms safety training.



A valid Missouri driver license showing that you are a resident of Pettis County.




The total fee for a CCW permit is now $83.25



Check or Money Order to: Criminal System Records Fund for $33.25

Cash, Check, or Money Order to: Pettis County Sheriffs Office for $50.00.


When completing your application for a CCW permit you will be required to submit to one photograph and fingerprinting.



The application must be completed by the individual obtaining the permit. Fingerprints will be submitted to the Missouri State Highway Patrol for a criminal records check.



Applicants will be notified by phone within 45 days regarding approval of their permit. Please allow the full 45 day period to expire before contacting us. Upon notification, applicants may pick up their signed permit at our office.



When picking up your permit, you will be given a copy of your permit that you are required to take to the local license bureau within 7 days. The copy of your permit will serve as your temporary permit until you arrive at the license bureau.



Once processed at the license bureau an endorsement will be added your driver license and you will only need to present your license to show that your are CCW qualified.



Persons who do not submit their slip to the license bureau within 7 days will have their permits voided.




How do I renew my concealed carry weapons (CCW) permit?



CCW permits have to be renewed every three years.  To renew bring the following items to the Sheriff's Office:

CCW identification, and a renewal letter from the department of revenue.  Once these items have been submitted to the Sheriff's Office, you will need to fill out a simple form and pay a fifty dollar renewal fee.  If your CCW is expired by more than sixty days; additional fees may apply.
